Luxottica suffers cyber attack.

The Italian eyewear conglomerate and the world’s largest company in the eyewear industry, best known for its brands Ray-Ban, Persol and Oakley, has suffered a cyber-attack that disrupted its operations in Italy and China.

The attack rendered some of the websites operated by the company unusable. Italian media reported that the operations at the plants of Luxottica in Italy were disrupted due to a computer system failure and staff there were notified that work had to be suspended due to “serious IT problems”.

After Luxottica suffers the cyber attack the information security manager said on Linked In: “No organisation, regardless of size, is free from cyber security threats and having an established action plan that is executed immediately following a security breach is critical to limiting the costs of incidents and damage to reputation of the company.” He subsequently confirmed that it was a ransomware. It is currently unknown if any data was stolen.
